Whoops

Whoooops had a little run in with the utility companys property outside of orange bikes in Orlando, Florida. knocked out half of their electricity 5 minutes before close.

Baller Telecommuter

So i called up verizon today because i couldnt get connected to the AP at the best western for the second day in a row. So now i can tether to my phone from my macbook and my new tomtom go 910. So i can get traffic and weather on my Tomtom go 910 as well as do any of my work from the back of my truck during slow events, no more reliance on wifi. did i mention this is quicker then the wifi at the best western in Orlando, lets see how long before they cut me off.

Parallels for OSX

So i bought a macbook last week. In an effort to ditch my work dell thats circa 2001, i bought parallels and installed Windows XP from my college days ($5 a disc from the university bookstore) the only hiccup was that i could not get parallels to sync via activesync with my Q. Well was checking on some workarounds then saw that Parallels Desktop build 3170 worked with activesync. Im super excited now. all mac goodness. I have to use XP for my work email and VPN im sure there is a way to get it working with OS x. but then id have to purchase my own copy of Office. for now im using a combination of NeoOffice (open office for OS x) and Office 2003 from work. well thats about it. Im in orlando now, and will be until wed then i am off to Jacksonville

Finally did some real work

Today i would say i had my first succesful demo, prior demos all had a lack of riders, I had less then 5 riders at any event till today. Was set up at alafia state park in Florida, was very busy and honestly wasnt really ready for everything. head started to spin with trying to keep people in order ill have to work out a different way to set up so there are less sides to be approached by. because 4 different ways makes it difficult. Well i really was satisfied, id put up a picture, but the camera is in the truck....

As far as tampa goes, finally went out last night, with Maverick from University Bicycles in Tampa and his girlfriend. went to a college bar, where it was 1 dollar to fill your mug with the domestic draught of your choice. Maverick hooked it up with a big mug. he said it was 4 beers per fill. Was a pretty cool place. also saw some whipped cream on some nipples with cherries on top that was licked off by another girl, awesome.

The news is bringing me the story Live of the potential for freezing temps tonight. sounds pretty serious. "tempuratures are droping like a rock" ha they have a freeze warning for 3-5 hours. this really is entertaining.

Im at alafia state park again tomorrow. going to bring riding clothes so i can hopefully hit the trails afterwards. today it was too cold, hopefully tomorrow will be different, the weather let me know that a high pressure system is coming in so hopefully all will be well.

Procrastination

I really ment to write this one a few days ago but ive proceded to procrastinate. amazingly enough if something doesnt have to be done by a certain time it doesnt get done. typically ever. Well i started moving my way up north from ft lauderdale

I hate to say it but i think that the first stop will likely be on of the better ones. the local rep was pretty cool and lived right around the corner so it wasnt like i was on my own. Then one of the racers Nixon, was really cool as well and got to hang out with him a few times. Its probably better to have a good rep first and then work my way down so i can see what it will be like with the different reps. Im doing just fine in tampa. got a new macbook. but the security gaurd at the gucci mall (yeah they had a store there) hassled me about my truck.

"you making a delivery?"
"Nope, i'm a customer"
"well you took up 2 spots"
"yeah well it is 30 feet long"

got parallels up and running on the mac so i can handle my work stuff on the macbook as well and can pretty much ditch the old dell. going to have to keep it around because activesync does not like to work on the macbook with parallels running. sad i know because i was actually digging on the whole outlook exchange server and having my calender updated as well. ill give a look into boot camp as well but i dont think it will be as cool.

oh and as for the picture, thats me on the 2005 beach of the year at Ft DeSoto, Florida on the gulf.

You dont look like a local

"You don't look like a local, where are you from"? Said the female bartender.

ok enough narration. I walked down to the beach today. and got lunch. a medium rare burger with swiss and bacon. it was way closer to well done. but thats ok i only got charged for 1 out of 3 beers. and The cooking is a preference not a necessity.

any way i thought i would post up a picture of the beach. weathers a bit mild. wore pants. did not stay long.

In Florida

Got down to florida a few days ago. Went to a Race at Markham Park, The Coconut Cup. Was there to show off product and support one of our Racers. Nixon, he was a really funny guy wouldn't expect him as a racer.

So sunny south florida isnt so sunny, yet. Especially for my 2 days off when it should be awesome for me, but no. Ive been building bikes in my hotel room, which is pretty distracting with the tv and the computer right here. but progress has been made and should be all set for my first dealer visit tomorrow.

The drive down wasnt too bad. did it in 2 days. second day was a bit of a pain due to I95 turning into a parking lot for almost 2 hours. Thanks hurricanes!
